Writer listening to training and taking notes

Exactly 15 years ago, I held my newborn in my arms and evaluated my options …

I could:

  1. Continue my streak of failures as a writer
  2. Go get a “real” job
  3. Figure out a way to earn a living as a writer with a flexible schedule.

I chose the third option … and haven’t looked back.

Most people argue that’s implausible. Absurd. Ridiculous.

That’s fine. They’re welcome to think that.

But for me … I was unwilling to settle. I didn’t want my kid to grow up in a house with financial stress … or a house where the mom was hardly around.

And I didn’t want to spend my 30s and 40s slogging away at a job I didn’t believe in, under someone else’s thumb.

What I wanted was to write, make the money I needed to provide for my family, and work on projects I wanted to work on.

Call it naïve … call it optimistic.

Either way, I got what I wanted: A lifestyle where I’m in charge of every detail of my day, I’m financially secure, and I’m doing writing work I love.

But I didn’t figure it out on my own …

I had help.

The kind of help that supports what some might view as “outrageous dreams” and then gives you the resources and training you need so you can make them happen.

My “outrageous dream” to have a secure and fulfilling career as a writer was totally normal with this crowd, because they’ve seen it happen time and time again.
